Accessible
We welcome players of all abilities aged between 14 and 25. You do not need to have any previous experience of playing basketball. Come along to watch or try out a session.
Sessions
Every session we work on fitness first, then we learn some basketball skills, and then we play a game. Everyone gets to play and enjoy basketball with their team.
Competitions
We organise competitions every term so that we can put our skills into practise. We compete against school teams. Our three teams get together for friendly tournaments. And we work with Special Olympics Camden to provide opportunities to compete against similar clubs.
Outings and Events
We like to go out as a team. We like to celebrate the end of the Christmas and Summer terms by going out for pizza with our members, families and friends.
We also like to attend basketball events and compete as a team whenever we can.
In 2019 we took part in our first Regional Special Olympics competition. We took 2 teams to Nottingham We were lucky to be able to do this before the pandemic started, and it was great for our A team to walk away with a bronze medal from this inspiring event.
We have now hosted 2 Special Olympic competitions in London, and attended further competitions in Manchester. We took 2 teams to the National Special Olympic Summer Games in Manchester in August 2022, and spent 3 fantastic days staying in the city and competing against teams from all around the country. We were so proud to see players from both our teams win MVP awards, and to take home another bronze medal from these games.
We are also delighted to be a part of the London Lions One Team initiative, and we have attended clinics run by their coaches and players, and even appeared on court at The Copper Box to show our skills to the Lions crowds.
